FLAT FILE SOURCE

  •  In “Control flow”, drag and drop the “Data flow task” into designer surface. 

  • Right click on the “Data Flow Task” and select “Edit” option.

  • It will go to “Data Flow”, drag and drop the “Flat File Source” into designer surface.

  • “Flat file source” red symble (highlited in the above screen shot)  will go, if we map the source file.
  •  Right click on the “Flat File Source” and select “Edit” option.

  • “Flat File Source Editor” window will open.

  • We need to create connection to the “Source file”. Click on “New” button then “Flat File Connection Manager Editor” window will open.

  • We need to give the “Connection manager name”. Click on the “Browse” button and choose the source file.

  • If source file is having header, then we need to select the “Column names in the first data row” check box.
  • Select “Columns” option and verify the columns.

  • Click “OK” button, then “Flat File Connection Manager Editor” window will disappear.
  • Select “Flate File Source Editor” columns option and verify the columns.

  • Click “OK” button to complete the source mapping.

  • We can change the source file path by editing the connection manager “Source” (if required).
